John Burke started as an agnostic but eventually become a pastor and has since guided thousands of Christians along a pat of faith.
How did this happen?
Pastor Burke found himself intrigued by accounts of NDEs. These stories, often dismissed as mere hallucinations or medical anomalies, sparked a curiosity in him that led to an exhaustive research project. He delved into interviews with people from different parts of the world who had experienced clinical death — no heartbeat, no brain activity — and then returned to life with extraordinary tales.

These individuals spoke of experiences that seemed to transcend worldly understanding, describing encounters with a profound, unconditional love and a sense of divine presence that closely mirrored the God depicted in Scripture.
He explains “They are seeing and experiencing the God of Scripture. And we’re looking, not only at His love story told throughout history in the Bible, but also his heart and characteristics, the mystery, the majesty of God.”
His book, “Imagine the God of Heaven: Near-Death Experiences, God’s Revelation, and the Love You’ve Always Wanted,” became a topic of discussion not just in his church but in the wider Christian community. It challenged believers and skeptics alike to consider the possibility of life beyond death and the existence of a loving God.
Pastor Burke’s transformation from a man of doubt to a beacon of faith has inspired many. His exploration into NDEs served as a bridge between empirical study and spiritual belief, providing a unique perspective on the Christian understanding of the afterlife.
