8 Calming Prayers for Public Speaking

Public speaking is a skill that requires confidence and extensive knowledge on any given topic. I am always in awe of those who God has gifted with the natural ease to speak confidently in front of others.

Over the years I have had to give myself incredible pep talks before beginning a presentation. In middle school I was required to take a speech class. I refused to volunteer and ended up putting myself through three days of, you can do this, pep talks.

Another time I remember sitting in the back of a lecture hall going over my notes, repeating to myself a vote of confidence. I was so nervous I didn’t realize I was saying it aloud. The person sitting next to me reassured me that I would be fine before beginning.

I now find myself wondering how different I would have fared had depended more on God and less on my own pep talks. Isaiah 41:10 reads “Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

God shows up for us in our everyday lives. I now find strength is speaking after asking God to be with me. I no longer feel alone in front of an audience. I have my Lord with me and I know that if I stumble, he will give me the strength to laugh it off and keep going.

I hope these prayers encourage you with your public speaking opportunities, please let us know below if you have any specific public speaking prayer requests we can help you with.

Closing Remarks

God will be with you on your public speaking journey- today, tomorrow and anytime you need Him. Matthew 10:19b -20 reads “God will give you the right words at the right time. For it is not you who will be speaking–it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” Do not be afraid if everything does not go the way you planned it. Remember he has a greater plan for all of us, we may just not see it in the moment.

I hope you are able to use these prayers to help at your next public speaking event. Whether you’re speaking in front of 1,000 people or just a handful during the next board meeting, I wish you the best of luck! Remember to leave your public speaking prayer requests below.

I have to have a voice. I’m 64, but not ready to retire. I love being around people. Making them smile. Life is so short. And with so many many many issues in this ole world, I want to make a difference in people’s lives. We are only here a very short time. God is my best friend, I have been through alot. He has always been right beside me. Always. Yet, I apparently need something more for my speech issue. 🙏 Thank you, for taking the time to read this. Could you tell me, where in the Bible, you have found healing 🙏.
