A Short Prayer For January
Lord God, I am excited for January to get here. I am asking that this new month be so much better than this last month. While the song may say “It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” it was not for me. I just ask You for January to go much more smooth than December. I need to have a good month, like a lot of days in a row of positive. Please hear my prayer through Jesus, Amen.
A Prayer For January Credit Card Bills
Dear Lord, I pray to You now in regard to our credit card bills that will come due in January. We tried to not charge too much for Christmas and other holiday stuff in December, but I think we might have gone a little overboard.
I confess to You our lack of discipline, but I also ask You to help us cover the bills. Let this be a good lesson for us to exercise better self control with our credit card, and with our impulses. I don’t want to fall behind on the bill, Lord, so I ask for a way to make a little extra cash in the next few weeks.
Help us get out of this hole that is fully of our own making. We are weak, so we turn to You, the Strong One. I pray all of this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer For a Fresh Start in January
Lord Jesus, I come to You in prayer, asking for a fresh start in January. I am grateful that by Your grace, I made it through this past year. Now that December will soon turn to January, I could use a fresh beginning with this new month coming.
Help me to shed the disappointments of this past year, and to let go of the numerous hurts I experienced as well. I am asking for a positive month in January, for some tangible indication that I may be able to have a better year than this last one.
I pray for You to guide me to new friends and connections, as I need some positive people in my life. I pray for You to guide me to a new way of looking at things in my life, as I could use a fresh perspective. I ask all of these things in the name of Christ, Amen.
Prayer For January Holidays Off
God, I need some time off, but it’s a new year starting and all of my paid time off starts from zero each year. The company I work for is deciding whether to give us the federal holidays off in January and the rest of the year.
I ask that You help the leadership see the benefit of giving all of us those holidays off. We get rest and come back refreshed. I am praying selfishly for myself, but I know it would benefit every employee at the company. I pray that they make this very positive decision soon so we can make plans accordingly.
I ask this all in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Prayer For Personal Fitness in January
Dear Lord God, I have finally reaching my tipping point in regards to my personal health and fitness. As January approaches, I want to begin a personal fitness journey that will enable me to improve myself, my health, and my overall outlook.
I didn’t get into this physical shape overnight so I don’t expect to be in great shape in a month or two or anything. This prayer is more than just about me losing weight, it’s about changing my mindset towards myself and my physical body. I want to be be able to do things I haven’t been able to do before.
I don’t want to get chronic health problems just because I wasn’t willing to make needed changes in my life. My most pressing concern is my physical health and I believe getting into a regular, sustainable aspect of my life.
I pray for guidance to find people who can help me in this fitness and health journey. I pray for perspective to help me take the long view on this. I pray for patience so I don’t get frustrated about “results.” Help me I pray, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer For Changes in January
God, I need to make changes in my life and I want to use the momentum of a new year and a new month in January to help me do that.
I know that I need help to do this so I’m turning to You in prayer asking for Your help. I don’t want to do much too soon because I want the changes I make to actually last. I’m not talking about resolutions, but actual, life-altering changes. I want to end next year in a better place than I ended this year.
I ask You for guidance about what change to focus on first. Help me to see the right path forward as I seek to be a better follower of You, and a better person. I ask this through Jesus Christ, Amen.
Prayer For New Direction in January
God, please guide me in a new path in January. I need a new direction for my life, I just don’t know where to go, where to turn. I pray to You now, willing to go in whatever direction I need to.
Help me see the steps I need to take, whether it’s making new friends, or changing my social context, or really anything else I need to modify. I pray against any obstacles that would stand in my way of heading down a new path. I am open to You, Lord, and Your guidance. Please help me, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer For Heat in January
Father God, I am praying to You now before January even gets here. My home’s source of heat is not working right now and it’s a burden. We happen to be having a mild December, but I know that January is going to be much colder, according to every forecast I’ve seen.
I need our heating to be fixed by then but all of the companies are really booked up. I don’t know what to do, but turn to You. We need heat in January! Please make a way through for us. We can’t afford to go to a hotel for days on end.
Also, my family lives too far away for us to go spend a few weeks with them. I’m feeling stuck and powerless to do something about this, God. I don’t want us to literally freeze in our own home! Thankfully, we have some money saved up to cover the repair. We just need a repair team to be able to come out and fix our heat.
Please guide someone to us, or create an opening in their booked schedules for us. I ask this in the strong name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer For the Start of the New Year in January
Lord God, I am enthusiastic for the start of a new year in January! I am grateful for the opportunity to have another year of life and another year to seek adventure through Christ.
It just seems like that when I begin a new calendar with a new year, there are new possibilities that weren’t there last year. Thank You for the simple reality of how time moves on and we go from week to week and month to month. I am eager to see and receive what You will have for me in January and in the whole new year.
I thank You through Jesus Christ, Amen.
Final Thoughts
Each month of the year has it’s own special context and purpose, depending on holidays, or the season of the year and so many other factors. But, January usually has a lot of energy around it because it signals the beginning of a new year.
A new year also brings all kinds of concerns and opportunities, which can lead you to your knees to pray, whether to for joys, concerns, or worries. I encourage you to receive the power of what the Apostle Paul says to us all:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here” ( 2 Corinthians 5.17, NIV).
With a new month of January, and a new year that it brings, you can let the old go, and embrace the new that is coming. My hope is that these prayers will help you face January with hope, strength, grace and peace. Keep on praying!
