7 Thoughtful Prayers for Healing Skin

My sister always gets on me about putting on sunscreen in the summer. She pesters me to keep reapplying because she doesn’t want me to get sunburned or get skin damage or cancer later on in life. Many people suffer from a variety of skin conditions, some severe and some not, but it’s always great to pray for healing for any type of skin ailment!

Lucky for me, I have a gift of rarely burning and getting a sweet tan instead.  However, I’m not exempt from the potential skin damage that could happen in the future. My grandfather had skin cancer, so this is a big reason for my sister’s concern. Praise God, because He was faithful to us and my grandfather was healed!

We read over and over again in the Scriptures about Jesus curing people’s physical ailments. In the Gospel of Luke we read about Jesus healing ten men with leprosy (Luke 17: 12-19, NIV).  Leprosy is a contagious skin disease. These people were social outcasts and forced to live a life of pain from the disease and isolation from society.

This account shows us God’s healing power. We know not everyone is healed of their physical ailments, but this story shows us that if we ask, we can receive. I will give you 7 prayers for healing skin, but feel free to customize these prayers to your specific needs.

God, just like you healed the leper in the Scriptures my skin needs healing too. I know all things are possible with God. If it is your will please heal me. I know I need to work with doctors to figure this out as well. For now, I surrender it to you. In your Name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer for Skin Healing from a Burn

Lord, I was in a terrible accident where my face was burned. I have to go through intense surgeries and rehab to get back to a new “normal.” It’s excruciatingly painful. I don’t know how to keep doing this for weeks or months on end, though they assure me the pain will get better. Please be my strength and my song through this all.

Please forgive me for my vanity Lord, I’m going to have a scars that will last a life time. Visible scars that will be a constant reminder of the trauma of this incident. Please heal these scars and help them disappear. Please heal me physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Give me the fortitude to keep battling these burns. Help me to use it as a vessel to glorify You. You are my Protector and Redeemer. I trust you to protect me and guide me on the path to health. In Your Name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer for Healing from Skin Cancer

Lord, I have skin cancer. It’s such a scary experience. It’s a very treatable form of cancer, but still all the doctors, appointments, and treatments are draining.

Even though it’s an awful experience, You are there through it all. May you guide the doctors and give (him/her) the wisdom they need to best serve my medical needs. Help me to be strong and advocate for myself if necessary.

I’m really frustrated.  Sometimes I wonder why You let this happen to me. Why do I have to live with this condition? I know that’s not fair to say. It’s not right for me to take my anger out on You. You have given me life. Let me use this life to glorify You despite my challenges.

I know you are a miracle worker my God so please heal me of my cancer if it is your will. In Your Name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer for Parent’s Skin to Heal

God, my (mom/dad) needs their skin to heal. It’s hard for me to deal with because it’s scary. I’m just a kid and I don’t know how to deal with my (mom/dad) having big problems like this. It’s overwhelming. I need your guidance and strength.

Please assist the doctors who are working on my (mom/dad). Help them to know the right way to deal with my (mom/dad’s) condition. Help them to know the right procedures, medications or whatever is necessary to heal them completely.

In the Scriptures many people come to you and ask them to heal them physically. I come to you with a similar prayer. If it is Your will Lord, please heal my (mom/dad) from their epilepsy. If it is not Your will then let us use this opportunity to glorify You.

If (mom/dad) is having trouble while I’m around then please act through me so I can give (her/him) the proper care. I love my (mom/dad) so much. I just want them to be safe and healthy. You are the ultimate protector so I trust in You. In Your name, I pray. Amen

Prayer for Daughter/Son’s Skin to Heal

Jesus, I’m scared. My (son/daughter) has a skin condition that needs to be healed. It came out of no where and we don’t know why the lesions are happening. It’s scary to watch my child helplessly when I can’t do anything about it.

I worry constantly that I won’t be around when (he/she) needs. How can I ever let them go out into the world with the fear that someone might make fun of them for what’s happening with (his/her)? Kids can be so cruel. Please protect (him/her) so that (he/she) doesn’t get made fun of.

I know all of this unknown is an invitation to trust in You. Help me to say yes to this offer. Thank you for your never ending guidance. Help me to be attentive to Your voice as we work with medical professionals to control (name’s) skin condition.

Lord, my (husband/wife) needs help with their skin condition that needs to be healed. It came out of no where and we don’t know what’s causing it. It’s scary to watch my (husband/wife) struggle when I can’t do anything about it.

Luckily I know (name) is a believer who knows You and Your power. Help the words of Jeremiah to always be on their lips, “Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise” (Jeremiah 17:14, NIV).

Prayer for a Friend who Needs Skin Healing

Holy God, I praise Your Name. My dear friend is dealing with a serious skin disease and needs your healing hand. We were able to get coffee and talk together today and I just thank you for placing me there to help (him/her) emotionally. I felt Your presence. I know in that moment I was Your face, hands, and feet, to (name).

(He/She) is scared. Help (him/her) to focus on You when the pain or stress of their disease is overwhelming. You have given them this cross to bear. Help (name) to handle it bravely and boldly.

Help me to continue to allow you to work through me and be the friend that they need right now. In Your Name, we pray. Amen.

Concluding Thoughts

Any time of skin problems can be worrisome. Whether you or someone you love has suffered burns, has skin cancer, or has any other type of concerning skin condition, you can always place your anxieties in the hands of the Lord. You can seek comfort in the words of Peter:

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7, NIV).
