Dear God, what a ride I’ve had in my career. I almost can’t believe I have been working as long as I have. I am grateful for this work and all that I’ve learned over the past decades.
I am close to retirement and I want to get my full pension. However, I’ve been hearing rumors that some corporate downsizing is coming down the line. Given my tenure and salary, I am worried that I will be on the hook to be let go. I don’t want that.
After all I’ve done for this company, I don’t want to think that this will happen. Please give me a calmness of spirit and a peace in my mind about all of this. I greatly value the job security I have had and now it seems that is being pushed.

Father God, I have to turn in a report about whether or not any of my co-workers can be let go or not. I really detest having to do this, but I also recognize it’s part of my job. I ask You to give me wisdom and insight I do not have at the moment.
Right now, I don’t think I can really spare anyone from our team. Each person plays an integral part in getting projects completed on time and under budget. Help me to make a convincing case for each of my co-workers so that upper management will pass us over if or when it’s time to make cuts.
I don’t want to be dishonest in any way, Lord, but I truly don’t see how we could function effectively if anyone got let go. I pray I can play a part in helping my co-workers have job security during this difficult time. Give me the words I need to put in the report. Lord God, there are layoffs happening this week at my company and I am so incredibly grateful that I am not among those being laid off.
I have heartbroken for several of my co-workers who have received their notices and will be departing in a week or so. I’ve had good working relationships with each of them and I know they are facing difficult times. I pray for their finances and mental health.

Dear God, as I read the news and get reports from the internet about hiring practices and employment figures for my career field, I am worried for many of my colleagues in our industry.
There’s a lot of folks with my job title and job experience who are out of a job right now, or soon will be, if the reports are accurate. Processing all of this during the night led me to come to You in prayer this morning.
I want to give You my thanks for the job security I have at my company. We are doing well, profit-wise, we have plenty of business in the pipeline coming our way, and I have enough experience to be of value to the company. I am feeling much more encouraged, even as I lift this prayer to You.
Help me to be a resource or encouragement to anyone in my field who needs a reference or an uplifting word. I want to pour out the blessings You have given me to others, if I have the opportunity. Thank you for all You do for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
