6 Wholesome Prayers Thanking God For Answering Prayers

6 Prayers thanking God For Answering Prayers pin Pin

It’s natural for you to want an answer when you pray to God. Often, we want an answer to prayer more rapidly than God actually gives us one. Or, we want God to answer our prayers how we want them answered.

But, as you probably have figured out, God doesn’t usually work that way. Of course, God does answer prayers, and He does so, often through Scripture or our circumstances.

So, when you receive an answer to prayer, it makes sense to be full of thankfulness to be able to hear from God! The six prayers below touch on a variety of situations for which God may have answered a prayer for you. Each prayer can be used as is, or you can alter the wording to better fit your personal scenario.

I recommend you also take a look at prayers for acknowledging God, or prayers for accepting God’s will. I always encourage people to be specific when they pray to God.

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful” ( Colossians 4.2, NIV).

However you use these prayers, would you let us know how God has answered your prayers? We love to hear stories of how God is working in people’s lives. You can share your requests or comments in the section at the end of this article.

May these prayers give you peace and confidence in your relationship with Jesus Christ.

Short Prayer For Answering Prayers

Dear God, thank You so much for answering my prayer! I’ve waited and waited, trusting that You would answer me in Your good timing. I’m learning to believe in Your perfect timing more and more each time. I’m so glad to have heard from You clearly. I am grateful for Your love and guidance in my life. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.

Grateful For Answering Prayer About Illness

Dear Lord God, my mother has been sick for a long time and I wondered if she would ever get better. I know I have prayed to You time and time again.

And now, her doctors have told her that her body is responding the the medication, and that fills my heart with gratitude. You have answered my prayers, Lord God! Certainly not in my time, or how I would have thought, but You, the God above all, have looked with mercy upon my mother.

She is being renewed toward better health. Thank You, Lord God, for being a personal God and for showing me Your love in this way. I’m grateful my mom is getting better. Help me to trust You even more in the future. I pray all of this through Jesus Christ, Amen.

Thankful For Answering Prayer About Relationship

I am experiencing new life in my relationship with my wife, Lord, and I attribute that to You, in every way. I have prayed daily for our closeness to be restored and strengthened. I have prayed for me to be transformed in the likeness of Christ, that I might love her as Christ loves the Church.

I knew that, in time, and in ways only You can do, You would answer my prayer. I am so thankful for the love I have for my wife and for the blessing that is our relationship. It’s sometimes hard for me to believe that the Creator of the universe hears me when I pray, much less has time to respond to anything I pray.

But You do, and you have. That fact alone overflows in my spirit. My gratefulness is giving me praise for You, and peace in my heart. May I remember this time in the future, when I am waiting for an answer from You. I do believe that “those who hope upon the Lord shall renew their strength.”

Thank You for listening to me, and thank You for communicating back to me. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.

For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer” ( 1 Timothy 4.4-5, NIV).

Thankful For Answering Prayer About Work

God in heaven, You really did it! You answered my prayer about my concerns with stuff at my workplace. I must not have as much faith as I thought because I really wasn’t sure that You would ever answer me back. I’ve been praying for months for the chaos at work to subside.

It wasn’t until these last few days that all the different pieces fell into place, or were removed. This whole day at work was like coming to a job in a whole new environment. Thank You, thank You for doing what only You can do!

I don’t know how else to understand what has happened, other than You heard my prayers and You went to work, exacting Your will and purpose around the whole situation.

The overly negative person suddenly resigned. The co-worker who complained every single day about something has somehow gotten a new attitude. Our manager announced last week that we were actually getting more than just cost-of-living raises at the end of this quarter.

All of these things I brought to You in prayer. I am overwhelmed with gratitude, Lord. This has really gotten my attention to how much I need to trust You when I pray. Thank You, and I give You praise through Jesus Christ, Amen.

Grateful For Answering Prayer About Finances

Father God, I have been at the end of my rope until this morning. Our family finances have been in shambles since the car wreck last month.

I mean, with the other driver not insured, we had to cut into our savings to cover the repairs, and then my husband had to miss work because of some of the injuries. This then led to higher than expected medical bills and poof-our savings were gone. I have been praying all month for You to come through and provide for us.

Yet all I seemed to hear back was a deafening silence. No new money from anywhere; no catching a break at any point. I was losing my trust and faith.  Until this morning.

Lord, I don’t know how it all came to happen, but apparently, the insurance company made an error and we were actually due to receive more than what we paid out for repairs. And, the hospital called and said they were writing off one-third of the bill.

Lord, You have answered my prayers and I am so filled with awe and thanksgiving right now, that I can barely think straight. You have come through as Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. We will now be able to have some savings again and not be so financially strung out. Thank You through Jesus Christ, Amen.

Grateful For Answering Prayer About Direction In Life

Dear Lord God, I have been wandering around, sometimes literally, trying to find a direction in my life. I’ve been praying and wondering if You were ever going to show me what I should be doing. I didn’t know what direction to take, or what action to step toward.

I gained a massive amount of clarity this afternoon after I met with a friend of mine who has much wisdom. I believe that You answered my prayers through him. You spoke to me through my friend and I am overflowing with awe that You would work in such a personal and clear way.

I don’t have any doubt that the direction I am considering is Your will. I feel it in my spirit and I trust that as I walk this out, You will grant me confirmation. I am sorry for the doubts I have expressed in the past days, but I know that You understand. Thank You that You are God and I am not. Help me grow in my trust of You, as I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Concluding Thoughts

Praying to God is a personal and intimate conversation. You are sharing your heart with Him, and trusting that He will speak back to you in some way. Depending on what you are praying for, it’s easy to want God to act right now, to speak to you right now.

Since God’s ways are not our ways, we have to grow in our trust in Him. And, when God does answer a prayer, we can celebrate the reality that the Almighty has entered into our ordinary circumstances and lives and given us what we needed, at the time it was needed. Never early, nor never late, God will do what He has promised.

“Let them praise the Lord for his great love

and for the wonderful things he has done for them.

Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and

sing joyfully about his glorious acts” ( Psalm 107.21-22, NLT).

Allow yourself to be open to God’s ways and God’s timing. The more you pray and give thanks for His answers, the more you can begin to understand that God is on your side, and is for you. You’ll begin to accept, and trust, that God knows what is best for you, even when it’s not clear to you.

Keep on praying!
