Oftentimes, when a loved one becomes ill or suffers something traumatic, we try to think of ways we can help our loved one get better. Prayer isn’t always our first thought in times of trial, but it is our most powerful tool.
The best thing you can do for your brother-in-law is pray for his healing, thanking God for His grace in his life. Healing is referenced a multitude of times in the Bible; possibly the most significant, the Bible tells us that “by His stripes, we are healed” in Isaiah 53:5 and again in 1st Peter 2:24. Jesus has already provided healing for us when He bore the cross.
James 5:15, one of my favorites, also says “the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.”

Short Prayer Of Healing for a Brother-in-Law
Heavenly Father, I lift my brother-in-law up to you in prayer, knowing that you already know the battle he is facing. I pray for your hand to be upon him, giving him peace in the midst of the trial.
I ask that you heal him Lord, and that you relieve any pain he is feeling, whether it be physical, emotional or mental pain. I believe your Word, Lord and believe that you will heal him, just as Jesus healed many.

Lord, I ask that you bring to light any underlying struggles, or issues that may be concealed.
Just as Jesus healed the woman in the synagogue with the disabling spirit, I pray you heal him. As Jesus went ashore and saw a great crowd in Matthew; he had compassion and healed their sick, I pray you have compassion on my brother-in-law, Lord and heal have faith in you Lord. I ask that you set him free from all iniquities. I pray that you lay your healing hands upon him, and you heal him; and fill him with great joy. Lord, I know that you are near to the brokenhearted and that you save the crushed in spirit. Thank you for your closeness in our most desperate times. I lift (brother-in-law’s name) up to you and ask for you to give him peace; the peace that only you can give, that surpasses all understanding.
Lord, I pray that in this season of (brother-in-law’s name)’s life, he learns to depend on you and to trust you with all of his heart. Let his joy be found in you, Lord, and let him come to know you on a deeper level.

Lord, I pray you use this trial for your glory. I thank you for your goodness.

Prayer For Healing For My Brother-in-Law While He is Facing a Medical Diagnosis (Such As Cancer)
Heavenly Father, I pray for (brother-in-law’s name). I know that the news he received today was heavy and difficult to hear. Lord, I ask that in this hard time, that the Holy Spirit comforts him and that you give him peace.
God, we know you are a healing God and that you have called your people to pray for the sick. We lift up (brother-in-law’s name) to you and ask that you remove all sickness, disease, virus, and illness from him. We ask for complete healing from (the medical diagnosis) and pray that you give (brother-in-law’s name) faith to receive the healing! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Prayer For Healing for my Brother-in-Law while he is Battling Addiction
Heavenly Father, I lift my brother-in-law, (name), up to you in prayer. I pray that you set him free from the chains of addiction, in Jesus’ name!
Lord, I know the enemy often uses condemnation and isolation to keep those who struggle with addiction “stuck”. I pray that you surround my brother-in-law with people who love you and know your Word, that they may encourage him and be a friend to him. I pray that you set him free from condemnation, Lord, as your Word says “there is now NO condemnation for those who are in Christ, Jesus”.
Thank you Lord, that you are with him every step of the way and that you have never left him nor forsaken him, even in the darkest moments.

Prayer For Healing for my Brother-in-Law while he is going through a Divorce
God, I lift up (brother-in-law’s name) to you. I pray that you comfort him in this difficult time and that you give him strength as he goes about his days.
God, I pray you heal his heart from the pain he is suffering as a result of the divorce and the challenges he faced that lead to the divorce. I ask that you remove any bitterness or anger from his heart, whether it be directed towards himself, or his spouse. (If there are children involved, the following could be added:)
I ask that you give both him and (spouse’s name) wisdom as they navigate co-parenting, and that you help each of them to focus on doing what is best for their children.
I pray that you give my brother-in-law peace, Father, and help him to know you are with him in every season.

Standing in prayer with a brother while he is in need is the most loving thing you can do for him. God instructs us time and time again throughout scripture to bring our anxious thoughts and burdens to Him.
