The New Testament teaches us that Jesus performed 37 miracles between his baptism and his crucifixion. Out of those 37 miracles, 27 of those miracles are him healing or cleansing an individual.
Mathew 8:14-15 reads “When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him,” Mark 2:11 reads “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home. He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all”
Jesus came to earth and proved again and again that he could heal no matter what the circumstance, and he is still healing people to this day.
The Gospel’s miracles hold a special place in my heart. Last fall my mother-in-law was diagnosed with a type of heart disease, it changed her life drastically and in turn changed the way our family thought of our time together. My husband and I began attending church again around this same time. We were skeptical, but knew there was not much more we could do; so we prayed.
This spring my mother-in-law went back to her doctors, after all her tests were complete, her doctor told her something miraculous. Her heart was now functioning better than the average person’s. They told her that there was a minuscule chance of this happening, and began a new plan of skeptical optimism.
Miracles can happen, to this day Jesus is working in our everyday lives. I urge you to take the time to read about Jesus’ 37 miracles. Remind yourself what our God can do, and have faith that he can do those same miracles for you.
My husband and I used similar prayers to these while praying for my mother-in-law. We spent time asking Jesus to make healing my mother-in-law his own will. I personally prayed for our Lord to take away her anxiety and grant her peace during such a stressful time.

Healing Prayer for Sister-in-Law’s Back Pain
Faithful Father, I ask that you bring healing to my sister-in-law.
I ask that the pain she feels be lifted from her. Lord, I know you can bring relief to her here and now.
Father I am a faithful believer, I believe that you died on the cross for all of our suffering, and I know this suffering is something that she can lay at your feet.
Lord, provide her with the path to healing. Show her which methods she can use to bring comfort and relief. Lord help her doctors to see your vision for her.

I ask that you heal the inflammation in her lungs Lord, that you eject all of the fluid and puss building up in her chest.

Heavenly Father, I come to you today to ask for healing of pain that I’m not sure will ever ease over time.
I ask that you heal my sister-in-law’s heart, Lord. This kind of pain is not something that can be fully taken away, but I ask you to lessen the heaviness of it all.
Lord surround her with your warmth. Help my family be your hands and arms that can hold her in this darkness.

Closing Thoughts
It is important that we pray for our loved ones, 1 John 5:14 reads “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us”.
