Short Prayer For A Son To Come Home
Dear God, I’m coming to You in prayer about my son. He’s been away for a while and I just want him to come home soon, and to come home safely. I don’t know where he is, but he has let me know that he’s okay. Lord, I just feel he’d be better off here at home. Watch over him and protect him, Lord, until he arrives back here. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Prayer For A Son To Come Home Safe
I long for my son to come home from his time away, Lord. I am not sure why he left, but he just took off one day and said he had to get himself straightened out. I pray that whatever it was he needed to work out of his system, that he got it worked out.
I hope his mental, emotional, and spiritual state are good. I don’t know what to expect, but I want him home safe. The last time he called me, he said he’d be home soon, but I don’t know what that really means. I’m trusting You for his safety and protection, Lord. I worry so much that he’s going to get himself into some situation he can’t get out of, but I believe that he will know how to make good decisions.
Bring him back home, Lord. Bring him back in one piece. May Your purpose and plan for him be clear to him now. I pray that he knows who he is and what his next step is. I pray for him to be home with us for a good long time, so I can enjoy his presence at home. I miss him. Hear my pleas through Jesus, Amen.
Prayer For A Son To Return Home From College
Lord, I pray to you on behalf of my son. He’s going to leave college and come home for the first time. He leaves early in the morning so he can make it back here in one day. I pray for him to get a good night’s rest and be alert on the highways.
Help keep any errant cars or trucks out of his path and may he focus on the road and not get distracted. I just want my baby home for a few days. I’m sure he’s changed in so many ways. It feels like he’s been gone for a year, but it’s only been a few months. Guide him safely back to us, Lord.
I pray that his car works well and does not break down. I ask that You keep him safe every mile of his journey. I ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Prayer For A Son To Come Home Safe From Military Service
Lord God, I ask you especially to keep my son safe. He’s been deployed overseas for a year now and I have prayed daily for his safety. But we just found out that he is scheduled to come home in a couple of weeks, off this tour of duty. I don’t want anything to happen to him this close to us seeing him again.
I pray for his troop to be alert and take precautions as they finish up these remaining 15 days. Help them focus and not get distracted by the hope of returning home. Help them to finish their work there properly and fully.
I pray for all of the flights he will have to take to finally get back home. May he get the rest he needs and help him prepare for seeing his family and friends again. Help us to remember that he has been gone for a year and has probably changed in ways we might not recognize. I pray for this to be a joyful transition back to the States.
I lift this prayer to You in the name of Jesus, our Protector, Amen.
Prayer For A Son To Return Home Safe From A Trip
Father God, my son has gone away on a church trip and will be gone for a week. I pray for his safety and the safety of everyone on the trip. Help him to have a good time while he is away, but hear my heart, Lord. I want him to return home safe from this trip.
I couldn’t stand it if something happened to him while he was gone. I wasn’t sure he was ready for this kind of trip but he was so excited to go. I just couldn’t turn him down. But I am really anxious about this, because it’s his first trip away from home for any real length of time.
I pray for the drivers of the van and for the place where they will stay. May You surround them every step of the way with Your protection. I ask all of this in faith, and through Jesus Christ, Amen.
Prayer For A Son To Come Home From A Party
God, I don’t know if I made a good decision when I gave permission for my son to go to a friend’s party. It’s a weekend and everything, so it will go quite late. I’m trying to loosen the grip a bit as a parent of a not-a-child-anymore son, but I am struggling right now.
I can picture all these scenarios where he will get hurt and do something dumb and do damage to himself somehow. Help me to trust that I’ve taught my son how to make good decisions. Help me to trust You in these stressful moments.
I ask that you keep him safe and to have the wisdom, even at his age, to know how to say no to stupid stuff. I pray that he returns home safely from this party and I hope I can grow in my trust as a result. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Prayer For A Son To Come Home Safe From Work
Lord God, my son is off on a construction job, for which I’m grateful. You provided this summer job and it’s been a blessing in so many ways. But now, he’s got to go with the crew for a few days out-of-town to take care of a special job.
He’s still so young and will be with these adults. I don’t want him to get into any trouble or into some situation he doesn’t need to be in. I don’t think he’s ready for this, but he’s earning double the pay plus expenses, so I’m trusting that You are guiding his steps.
Keep him alert and help him to focus on doing a good job and to be safe, especially when he’s not working. I want my son to come home safe from the work site. I pray to You, believing that You hear me and know what is best for him. I ask this in the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.
Concluding Thoughts
As a parent you know that as your children grow, you have to grow as well. You have to grow in your trust in God for their safety and their actions. Praying regularly can help you do that, especially when your son is away from home for some reason.
It doesn’t matter what their age is before they go off on their own, when your son is away from you, you just want them back home safe with you. He has to establish some independence from you in order to mature into an adult, but don’t shy away from letting God know if you’re worried about your son.
“The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice;
he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him” ( Proverbs 23.24, ESV).
As you pray for your son, whether you use the prayers here or come up with your own, remember to just be honest with God about what you’re feeling and what you’re asking Him to do, on behalf of your son. Allow yourself to be open to the Spirit as you pray, so that you can grow into a deeper relationship with God. I trust that these prayers will be of help to you, both now and in the future. Keep on praying!
