Prayer For A Sound Mind During the Holidays

Lord God, the holidays are supposed to be a time of joy, and celebration, and thanksgiving, and all the other positive things people say about the upcoming holidays.

But for me, I just look at them with dread. There is so much disconnect for me in my thoughts. I am overwhelmed with anxious thoughts and fear about what may happen to people in my family or others as they travel or gather.

My mind is running full speed on this and I pray for a calm mind. I pray for a sound mind. I want to be able to enter into this holiday season more at peace than I have before. I want to be calm and actually enjoy what is happening, instead of being afraid of what might happen.

Help me I pray, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” ( 2 Timothy 1.7, NLT).

I don’t know what the source of this discontent and disconnect with him. It’s like the thoughts are causing me to see him in a way I don’t like. This is really bothering me, Lord, and I don’t feel like I can turn to anyone but You. Please help me to see the truth of this disappointment or lack of feeling toward him. I need to feel normal again!

I open myself to Your Spirit to guide me into all truth and help me see a way out of this maze of negative thinking. I want to be free, Lord. Hear my prayer through Jesus my Savior, Amen.

Prayer For A Sound Mind With My Family

God my Father, I don’t know what to pray about really, but I want to pray for how I relate to my family. I can’t pin it down but it’s like I don’t feel fully a part of my family. I know they love me and I know I love them, but right now, my thoughts are consumed with how I feel on the outside.

I can’t think of anything or any action that would have brought this up, so it literally has got to be all in my head. I pray for a sound mind, for very tangible, clear thinking. I need to not have these feelings or thoughts because they are pushing me out and I don’t like that. I pray this and believe in Your direction, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Prayer For A Sound Mind At School

Dear Lord God, I am not doing very well in school. I can’t seem to concentrate when I need to and I already know I don’t have ADHD, so it’s not that.

My mind seems to swirl with all kinds of distracting thoughts and I don’t know how to turn that off, or lower it even. Nothing bad or traumatic has happened in my life, so I don’t know the cause of this and that bothers me; it worries me.

Then it all tends to snowball from there. I need a sound mind and I need it sooner than later, Lord. I need, in a very real way, a mind of peace and calm, not stress and confusion. Will you give me clear thoughts and surround my mind with a hedge of protection? I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I don’t want to go back to the way I was. You have helped me be able to work hard on my recovery and I like how I feel now and how I live now. Please help me to lean into You hard so I can make it through this rough patch.

Thank You for surrounding me with a community of people who understand what I’m going through. I depend on them greatly to keep me accountable.

I pray to You now, asking for a clear mind. Let me be able to see the lies about my old like and reject them with confidence and strength. I pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Final Thoughts
