Dear God, I pray for my friend (name) who is sick right now. She’s feeling bad and can’t get to the doctor just yet, so I lift her sick body and sore muscles to you, O Lord. Touch her with your healing hand and restore her to good health and function. Ease the weariness and soreness from her body, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Lord God, I want to come to you in prayer for my friend (name) who is in the hospital right now. They are running a bunch of tests to figure out what is wrong with him, but we’re waiting at the moment.
In this waiting time, I pray you will bring healing to his body, into his cells and blood and lungs and organs. I pray you strengthen his immune system to fight this invasion of sickness that is wracking his body presently. I pray the antibiotics they are giving him enable his body to ward off any further sickness.
I pray for the doctors to have clarity when they review all the tests and blood work so they can diagnose specifically and quickly. I know you heal through many means, Lord, including modern medicine. Bring your healing to (name) that he might be well again, and you be glorified through it all.
I pray for his family who is quite concerned. Give them peace as they support him while he is in the hospital.

Prayer for Healing of a Sick Friend at Home
God in heaven, my best friend is at home sick this week. His doctor told him he was contagious so he has to stay home and not be around other people for awhile. I pray you help (name) feel your presence with him during this time of illness.
I pray for him to take advantage of the time to rest his body and mind. Let him get deep and renewing and restorative sleep each night. May he eat healthy this week, in order to give his body all the best nutrients possible. I especially pray that he does what his doctor says, as (name) can be a bit stubborn sometimes. So, instill in him the desire to take all of his medicine!
I don’t know what else to do, so that’s why I’m praying. I dropped off a care package of food on his porch this morning to help tide him over since he can’t go to the grocery store. Help my friend to heal, O God. I make this prayer through Jesus Christ, Amen.

My friend at work is sick Lord, and I pray you bring healing to her. It looks like she will be out for a couple of days and she’s pretty bummed out about not being here. We’ve told her to stay home and rest up and get better–we’ll cover for her while she’s gone.
I pray you give her reassurance while she is healing at home. Help each of us at the office to split up her duties evenly so nothing falls all on one person. (Name) is such a vital part of what we do here, Lord, so I pray you help her body heal soon.

Prayer for Healing of a Sick Friend From Social Media
Dear Lord, I don’t know (name) all that well, except through our connection on social media. They just posted a request for prayer for themselves, so I want to respond with an actual prayer.
Lord, I pray that you bring healing to (name) in their illness. Let the medicines they are taking work as formulated and may their body get rest. As they rest, strengthen their immune system to kick into gear and overpower this illness.
I pray this in the healing name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Concluding Thoughts
It’s easy enough to tell a friend who is under the weather, “Hey, I’ll be praying for you.” It’s another thing to actually pray for your friend. I’ve found it helpful to pray for them in that moment and don’t postpone it to bedtime or the next morning. Perhaps you are texting your friend and they share they are sick. You can text back a prayer of healing for them right then.
Or you can do the same thing if you are communicating by email or phone or direct messaging, or even in person. By praying in the immediacy of the moment, you accomplish two things. First, you do what you said you would do, which is pray for the person. Second, you give your friend a boost of encouragement as you pray for them.
It’s taking advantage of being faithful in the present moment. You will find that the more you pray in this way, the easier it becomes, and the more naturally confident you become in doing so. Remember, nothing is too small or too large to bring to God in prayer, so take advantage of the reality that you can pray to the Creator of the universe at any time, about any thing, including the healing of your sick friend.
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity” (Ephesians 5.15-16, NIV).
As you pray for healing of a sick friend, you need to know that the outcome is in God’s hands, so you can pray with peace and confidence that you are doing the proper action. Praying for another person can do as much good in you as it does in the person for whom you are praying.
Besides, who else besides God could be pray to for healing? Who else besides God could bring healing? Who else, besides God, can we place our faith and hope in for such situations? We pray in trust with God and giving God glory in all things:
“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise” (Jeremiah 17.14, NIV).
