Just like you I have prayed these prayers before. You are not alone. And I have the blessing to share with you that God does answer prayers about troubled marriages. He is good and His answer to my feeble prayers exceeded my expectations.
It was through these troubling times in our marriages that God refines us. He draws us closer as we reach out to Him in prayer.
If we are humble enough we can see how He is molding us into the spouse he wants us to be.
He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. (Psalm 25:9 ESV)
God allows us to be part of this beautiful design of being married but that doesn’t mean it’s always going to be easy. We will face many difficulties because we live in a fallen world, we are selfish individuals and the devil is out to destroy what is good from God.
We can pray prayers for our troubled marriage that combat the plans of the devil, allow us to humble our prideful hearts, and rejoice that we will one day live in eternity free of sin that troubles relationships.

Dear Heavenly Father, you are so good to me. I see your many blessings all around me. Today I cry out to you for help with this troubled marriage. You brought this marriage together but it is struggling. God, you know the struggles this marriage is facing. I ask that you surround this marriage with other Christians pointing to you. Help this marriage to fight and to run the course you set out for them. Father, turn us all to you, help us look upon you. It is you who has saved us and are seated at the right hand of God. Prayer For Marriage When Everything Is Going Wrong
Mighty God, everything is going wrong. You know I desire for my marriage to be honoring to you but it is in trouble.
I cry out for you to help my marriage.
My marriage is struggling with speaking love. There is deceit and lies. There are words of hate and attacks.
I cry out to you in prayer, God, do not let my efforts to restore this marriage fall short.
God, I ask that if there is anything I have done wrong to reveal it to me so I may repent. And likewise, I pray that my spouse also be repent of the things he/she has been found guilty of.
Father, there is no kindness in my marriage anymore. Help me to show kindness, even when I don’t receive it in return.
God, your steadfast love is good to me. I pray that you deliver my marriage from all the things going wrong in it. I am in need of your help. Allow everyone to see it is you who has saved this marriage.
Father, even if things do not turn out how I want help me to always praise your name. Help me to praise you in the midst of all this trouble my marriage is in. Amen.
Prayer For Prideful Spouse
Lord, you humbled yourself, taking on the form of a human. You did this for me. You did this so that you could die for my sins and allow me to be reconciled to God. You are so good to me.
Humility is difficult. It is difficult for me and my spouse. I come to you today praying that you help my spouse with the pride in his/her life. Please help humble my spouse in a loving way.
Father, it seems like my spouse always thinks that he/she is right. There is no discussion and hurtful words usually follow.
Pride also seems to show up in our marriage when big decisions are being made. It is often difficult for my spouse to accept change, especially if it’s different from what he/she thinks is best.
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV)
God, I pray that you humble my spouse. I thank you that you have the power to do this and the power to heal. Help him/her to think of themselves less and humbly submit to you. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer For Forgiving Spouse
Dear Heavenly Father, I need to forgive my spouse. I’m coming to you today for help in this area. You have so greatly forgiven me of all my sins and I know I should forgive my spouse but it is hard.
I feel like forgiving my spouse would be costly for me. Lord, help me to remember that my sin cost you your life.
I feel like things might not change even if I do forgive. Lord, help me to see that I am growing slowly and your patience with me.
God, I ask that even for reasons I’m nervous to forgive my spouse you help me to see that you forgave me for so much more.
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. (Ephesians 4:31-32 ESV)
Give me the strength to forgive my spouse today. And help me to also follow your teaching here to put away unkindness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer For Trouble Marriage Because Of Loss Of Child
God, my God, I am broken. My heart is broken over the loss of a child and now my marriage is in trouble.
Sometimes I don’t even know what to pray. I know you are God, I know Christ’s blood allowed me to be reconciled to you through faith by your grace. I am comforted to know you will return one day. These truths sustain me but yet this trouble looms.
I feel weak and do not know how to help my marriage. I only know that I need your help.
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Romans 8:26 ESV)
Father, I ask that you receive my broken heart, my mumbling prayers, and my desperate cry and restore my marriage. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer For Trouble Marriage Because Of Finances
Mighty God, you are bigger than our financial problems, yet they seem to continually be the cause of trouble in our marriage.
We want to honor you with our money but our plans on how to do that are sometimes different in our marriage. Help us to be of one mind when it comes to managing the money you have given us.
God, I ask that You continue to remind us that You provide and we can trust You with our finances.
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19 ESV)
Father, when we are tempted to fight over money, when we disagree, or when we get frustrated help us to turn to you instead of our own understanding. Allow us to rest in knowing you are in control and love us.
God, I also pray that you help us be more financially disciplined as a couple. Help us to not be selfish in our spending but to honor you in all the ways we spend. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayers For Awareness During Troubled Marriage
God, I seek you for help today. Open my eyes to ways I may have contributed to the trouble in my marriage. Help me be aware of how my words, action, or attitude is causing harm to this marriage.
Father, I ask that you help me be aware of how to love my spouse better. Help me to study my spouse to know what he/she likes best and the best way to show love.
I thank you that I can pray a prayer like this and you are willing to help me see and understand. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
Closing Thoughts
There can be many other reasons why a marriage is struggling. Many times it can come down to a prideful and selfish spouse, being part of a broken world, or the attempts of the devil to break up the union.
No matter what situation the marriage you are praying for is going through God is big enough to help restore that relationship. God created marriage as a beautiful example of His love for His people.
His steadfast love, sacrificial service, and leadership should all be reflected in a marriage. God desires marriages to be healthy and reflect these qualities and loves that you are turning to Him when it’s not. Allow God to answer your prayers in His timing and in His way.
